Licenciado em engenharia mecânica, ramo termodinâmica, pelo Instituto Superior Técnico. Tem desenvolvido a sua actividade profissional, desde 1976, na Companhia Carris de Ferro de Lisboa, onde é actualmente Director de Logística. Consultor nas áreas de manutenção e de energia e ambiente. Actividade docente no Curso de pós-graduação em Tecnologia, Manutenção e Gestão Automóvel, do Instituto Superior Técnico, e em cursos sobre energia e ambiente.
