Jorge Costa morreu a 20 de abril de 2022, com 55 anos, em Lisboa, onde nasceu e sempre viveu. Provavelmente, teria morrido anónimo, como tantos outros, como o amigo Zé. Mas as suas crónicas levaram-no ao conhecimento de tantos e tantos. O seu talento conquistou os leitores que o acarinharam, ainda que à distância, neste último ano da sua vida. Na Mensagem, partilhou a sua experiência da vivência nas ruas, sem teto para viver e para dormir. Foi sem abrigo durante 8 meses. Escreveu sobre esta "difícil experiência, indigna e quase desumana" como a descreveu.
