Jorge Almeida nasceu a 12 de dezembro de 1972, em Lisboa. Começou a sua carreira como jornalista em 1991 na Rádio Mais.
Em 1994 ingressou na TVI, onde integrou as equipas dos principais espaços de informação.
Em 1996 transferiu-se para a RTP, para se dedicar em exclusivo à área da Grande Reportagem.
Recebeu vários prémios e menções honrosas nacionais e internacionais.
É autor de O Mistério do Bolama: Acidente ou Sabotagem (Gradiva, 2014) e coautor, com o navegador solitário Manuel Martins, de Todos os Ventos do Mundo (Prime Books, 2003).
