Jorge Afonso Rapazote nasceu em Bordéus, entre o Atlântico e as vinhas, no longínquo ano de 1969, e regressou às raízes transmontanas com dezassete anos de idade. Apaixonado pelo clima agreste e pelo Douro das arribas e penhascos vertiginosos, o autor escolheu as paisagens do interior profundo como universo onde se movem personagens genuínas e a portugalidade ganha forma de verdadeiro sentimento.
Depois de "Insustentável Saudade" (2016) e "Filhos da Raia" (2019), "A Sombra" é o seu terceiro romance.
