Jonathan Franklin
Jonathan Franklin has lived in Chile for fifteen years, twelve of which as a South American correspondent for The Guardian (UK). Thanks to a coveted "Rescue Team" pass, he was the voice of the miners, sending news from San José to The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Observer (UK), and The Sydney Morning Herald. As a cameraman in the mine, he filmed exclusive footage broadcast on ABC News, CNN International, Univision, and the Discovery Channel. Fluent in Spanish, Franklin has covered a range of events in South America, from the arrest of Augusto Pinochet to the intricacies of the drug trade. His stories and opinions are regularly published in magazines worldwide, from GQ to Esquire and Playboy. As co-founder of www.AddictVillage.com, Franklin travels throughout Latin America in search of stories that he publishes in newspapers and magazines around the world. Some of these reports have already aired on programs such as Nightline (NBC), 60 Minutes (CBS), A&E, BBC, among others. Born in Lincoln, Massachusetts, USA, and a graduate of Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, Franklin moved to Chile in 1995, residing with his wife Toty Garfe and their six daughters in Santiago.
