John Marshall
John Marshall (1845-1915), educated at the universities of Oxford and Edinburgh, was a professor of classical literature, philosophy, and ancient history at Yorkshire College (now known as University of Leeds) and at the University of Edinburgh. A classicist, translator, and educator whose work was recognized and received excellent reviews, Marshall also translated numerous Greek and Latin works. He later became rector of Royal Secondary School in Edinburgh.
