John Kay
Edinburgh, Scotland, 1948. After graduating in Economics from the University of Edinburgh, he moved to the University of Oxford, where he remained as a lecturer, publishing articles in academic journals. He became interested in popular economics when invited to join a group that would review the British tax system. In 1986 he accepted a consultant position at London EconomicsHe was the director of Halifax, one of the largest financial companies in Europe and later became Professor of Management from the University of Oxford. In 1997 he was elected Fellow of the British Academy.
