Johanna Spyri

Johanna Spyri was born on June 12, 1827, in Hirzel, a rural area near Zurich, Switzerland. She died on July 7, 1901. Her knowledge of the child's mind, her humor, and her ability to interpret children's joys and sorrows imbued her stories with unique qualities and lasting value.

Heidi is an unavoidable reference in children's literature and her most beloved work. Translated into more than 50 languages, Heidi's adventures have been adapted for film and television.
