Johanna Spyri nasceu a 12 de junho de 1827 em Hirzel, uma zona rural perto de Zurique, na Suíça. Morreu a 7 de julho de 1901. O seu conhecimento sobre a mente infantil, o seu humor e capacidade de interpretar as alegrias e tristezas das crianças imprimiram às suas histórias qualidades únicas e um valor duradouro.

Heidi é uma referência incontornável da literatura para crianças e a sua obra mais amada. Traduzida em mais de 50 idiomas, as aventuras de Heidi foram adaptadas para cinema e televisão.
