Jodi Picoult, uma das romancistas mais populares da atualidade, nasceu em 1966, em Long Island, Nova Iorque. Licenciou-se em Escrita Criativa pela Universidade de Princeton – Picoult foi eleita como uma das dez mais influentes antigas alunas, numa lista que conta com personalidades como Michelle Obama ou Jeff Bezos – e obteve, depois, o grau de Mestre em Educação pela Universidade de Harvard. Autora bestseller nº 1 do New York Times, os seus romances encontram-se traduzidos para trinta e quatro línguas, em trinta e cinco países – e muitos deles adaptados ao cinema. Com uma vasta bibliografia, Picoult foi galardoada com diversos prémios, dos quais destacamos o New England Bookseller Award for Fiction, o Lifetime Achievement Award for Mainstream Fiction, atribuído pela Romance Writers of America, o Alex Award, atribuído pela Young Adult Library Services Association, e o Sarah Josepha Hale Award.
