João Tordo nasceu em Lisboa em 1975.
É autor de dezasseis livros, divididos entre o romance, o policial e o ensaio.
Venceu o Prémio Literário José Saramago em 2009, com o romance As três vidas, e o Prémio Literário Fernando Namora em 2021, com Felicidade.
Foi ainda finalista do Prémio Literário Europeu, do Prémio P.E.N. Clube, do Prémio Oceanos, do Grande Prémio de Romance e Novela APE e do Prémio da Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores, entre outros.
Toda a obra de João Tordo está publicada na Companhia das Letras.
Os seus livros estão editados em vários países, incluindo França, Itália, Alemanha, Brasil, Hungria, Espanha, Argentina, México e Uruguai.
