João Pires

João Pires nasceu em Cabo Verde quando ainda aí flutuava a bandeira portuguesa. Com oito anos foi com a sua família para Angola que, como tantas famílias portuguesas, responderam ao apelo do Estado Novo no sentido de implementar a colonização portuguesa naquela ex-colónia. Regressou à sua terra natal após a revolução de 25 de Abril de 1974. Trabalhou na marinha mercante grega, o que lhe deu oportunidade de viajar por vários países. Posteriormente, fixou residência nos E.U.A. onde estudou e viveu por vários anos. Em 1990 veio para os Açores e aí constituiu família. Presentemente vive e trabalha em Portugal continental, distrito de Coimbra.
