Joana Carido é licenciada em Ciências da Nutrição e Mestre em Nutrição Clínica pela Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação da Universidade do Porto. Em 2009, adotou Peter, intolerante à alimentação processada. Começou, assim, o estudo sobre nutrição do cão. Os seminários e congressos deram-lhe a conhecer várias abordagens sobre alimentação natural. Fez duas pós-graduações em Nutrição Canina.
