Jane Green trabalhou durante muitos anos como jornalista, tendo realizado algumas incursões no domínio das relações públicas, para empresas de cinema e televisão, e até para algumas celebridades. É autora de sete romances de grande sucesso: para além de "O Despertar", "Straight Talking" (1997), "Jemima J." (1998), "Mr. Maybe" (1999), "Bookends" (2000), "Babyville" (2001), e "The Other Woman" (2004). Vive habitualmente em Connecticut e Londres, com o marido e quatro filhos pequenos.
