James Robertson

É autor de dois romances anteriores a este, The Fanatic (2000) e Joseph Knight (2003). Este último foi agraciado com dois dos maiores prémios literários escoceses de 2003/4 - o Saltire Book of the Year, e o Scotish Arts Council Book of the Year. James Robertson também publicou contos, poesia, antologia e ensaios. Em 2006 foi escolhido para receber o prestigiado prémio Creative Scotland, tendo igualmente sido nomeado para o Prémio Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland. O Testamento de Gideon Mack fez parte da selecção original do Man Booker Prize, e integrou a lista do Prémio Saltire Book of the Year.
