James McBride é autor de Deacon King Kong, best-seller do New York Times e livro do Clube de Leitura de Oprah; de The Good Lord Bird, vencedor do National Book Award; do clássico americano The Color of Water; dos romances Song Yet Sung e Miracle at St. Anna; do livro de contos Five-Carat Soul; e de Kill ’Em and Leave, uma biografia de James Brown. James McBride foi considerado pela TIME uma das 100 Pessoas Mais Influentes de 2024, além de ter sido agraciado com a Medalha Nacional para as Humanidades em 2016. É ainda músico exímio e escritor residente da Universidade de Nova Iorque.
