Jack Kerouac
Jack Kerouac was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1922. In 1947, enthusiastic about bebop and the rebellious attitude of his friend Neal Cassidy, he decided to set off to discover America, hitchhiking across the country.
In his clearly autobiographical writing, he developed a style he defined as "spontaneous prose," which he used to record the experiences of the Beat Generation.
Among his various novels, the following stand out:
On the road, Maggie Cassidy, The Subterraneans, The Dharma Bums and Big
Sur.
