Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer é hoje um dos mais celebrados autores holandeses, com mais de quatro dezenas de obras publicadas, entre poesia, romance, contos, ensaio, traduções ou estudos científicos. Nasceu em Rijswijk, perto de Haia, em 1968, e vive desde 2008 na cidade de Génova, em Itália. Com várias obras premiadas, quer na poesia quer na prosa, publicou no final de 2018 Grand Hotel Europa, romance sobre a identidade europeia na era do turismo de massas, que conquistou a crítica e se tornou um best-seller imediato. Este é o seu primeiro livro publicado em Portugal.
