Iida Turpeinen nasceu na Finlândia em 1987 e vive em Helsínquia. Académica interessada pela relação entre as ciências naturais e a literatura, explora enquanto escritora o potencial literário da investigação científica e dos meandros e peripécias da história da ciência. Escreveu o seu primeiro livro de contos em 2014, vencedor do prémio J. H. Erkko para Jovens Escritores. Em 2023, com o seu primeiro romance, A Existência da Vida, conquistou não apenas a crítica e os leitores na Finlândia mas também a aclamação mundial, com várias seleções para prémios e direitos vendidos para cerca de 30 territórios.
