Hugo Pratt (1927-1995) é unanimemente considerado um dos maiores desenhadores do mundo. As suas obras de banda desenhada, as suas obras gráficas e as suas aguarelas são expostas nos mais conceituados museus, do Grand Palais à Pinacothèque de Paris, passando pelo Vittoriano, em Roma, o Ca' Pesaro, em Veneza ou o Santa Maria della Scala, em Siena. Pratt definia as suas histórias utilizando o termo "literatura desenhada". É citado por autores e artistas como Tim Burton, Frank Miller, Woody Allen, Umberto Eco ou Paolo Conte. Viveu em Itália, na Argentina, em Inglaterra, em França e na Suíça. Viajante incansável, atravessou praticamente todo o resto do mundo.
