Hugo Mezena nasceu em 1983, em Penafiel. Vive em Lisboa. É autor do melodrama A Cidade, o Gato, da peça O Salto e dos libretos para ópera O Deus do Vulcão e Jealousy.
Participou em coletâneas e no romance colectivo O Grande Inquisidor. A micropeça A Violação foi levada à cena em Portugal e no Brasil.
Alguns dos seus trabalhos deram origem a obras plásticas e peças musicais e são presentemente objeto de estudo em contexto académico.
Interessa-se pela relação entre palavra escrita e música. Toca piano. Gente Séria é o seu primeiro romance.
