Henry Kissinger
Henry Alfred Kissinger (1923-2023) was an American diplomat of German origin, born in Fürth. After a brilliant academic career, he was an advisor to President Nixon (1968-1973) and head of the State Department (1973-1977) under Presidents Nixon and Ford. He developed intense diplomatic activity in China, Vietnam, the USSR, and Africa.
He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973, along with the Vietnamese Le Duc Tho (who refused it), for his role in securing the ceasefire agreement in the Vietnam War.
Kissinger is considered an authority on diplomacy and political strategy, subjects on which he wrote and lectured in various countries.
