Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004) é considerado um dos fotógrafos mais importantes da segunda metade do século XX e um dos pais do fotojornalismo. Na agência Magnum, que fundou em 1947 ao lado de Robert Capa, David (Chim) Seymour, William Vandivert e George Rodger, realizou algumas das grandes reportagens (sobre a Europa, o Oriente e a antiga URSS) que lhe deram fama mundial como cronista visual.
