Helmut Ortner nasceu na Alemanha em 1950, vive e trabalha em Frankfurt. Escreveu diversos livros de sucesso, publicados em mais de 14 países. Convidado pelo Instituto Goethe, realizou diversas digressões para divulgar o seu trabalho um pouco por todo o mundo.
Os seus livros O Executor, Foram Todos Nazis, O Homem Que Tentou Matar Hitler, entre outros, tiveram um forte impacto na Alemanha no momento da sua publicação e receberam elogios nos principais jornais e revistas do país como o Su¨ddeutsche Zeitung, Die Zeit, Der Spiegel, entre outros.
