Filho de pai tunisino e de mãe francesa, Hédi Kaddour é poeta e romancista, bem como tradutor e professor nas áreas da Literatura, Dramaturgia e Jornalismo. Em 2006 obtém o Prémio Goncourt du Premier Roman com Waltenberg, um belíssimo romance que, através de um enredo que combina espionagem e uma trama sentimental, mergulha na história apaixonante dos homens e da literatura do século XX. Em 2015, com Os Preponderantes, recebe o Grande Prémio de Romance da Academia Francesa, o Prémio Valery-Larbaud e o Prémio Jean-Freustié.
