Em 2007, Hank Green começou a criar vídeos para o Youtube com o seu irmão, o autor John Green. Algo que acharam ser simultaneamente estúpido e divertido, e que se revelou uma ideia brilhante. Agora, é CEO da Complexly, uma produtora que cria conteúdos educacionais como os canais Crash Course e SciShow.
É cofundador de várias pequenas organizações como a DFTBA.com, que ajuda artistas e criadores de conteúdo a venderem os seus trabalhos na Internet, e a VidCon, a maior conferência de vloggers do mundo.
Hank e John Green também criaram o Project for Awesome, que no ano passado angariou mais de dois milhões de dólares para causas solidárias como a Save the Children e a Partners in Health.
