Gottfried Benn

Nasceu em 1886 em Mansfeld no Brandeburgo. Estudou teologia em Marburgo, que abandonou para se formar em medicina de Marinha, serviu na primeira Guerra Mundial, apos o que se estabeleceu com clinica em Berlim. Desde 1912 que publicou em volume as suas poesias, tendo aderido ao expressionismo, de que veio a ser um dos mais altos expoentes. Morreu em Berlim em 1956.
