Gonzalo Giner alcançou o êxito literário com o livro El sanador de caballos, que o transformou num autor de renome e uma referência no panorama literário em língua espanhola. Veterinário de profissão, quis, com esse romance, investigar a origem do seu ofício. Posteriormente com El jinete del silencio, Gonzalo descreve os antecedentes da criação da raça espanhola de cavalos durante o século XVI. E em Pacto de lealtad, o autor contou, pela primeira vez, a participação dos cães na Segunda Guerra Mundial e na Guerra Civil espanhola.
