Glendy Vanderah cresceu em Chicago, Illinois. Desde sempre apaixonada pela natureza e pela leitura, estudou escrita e literatura enquanto trabalhou como bióloga. Foi também editora assistente de uma publicação científica. Casou com um ornitologista que compreende a sua obsessão pela natureza. O casal mudou-se para a Florida e Glendy descobriu que criar três filhos lhe deixava pouco (ou nenhum) tempo para a biologia. Estava, pois, na altura de se dedicar à sua outra paixão: a escrita.
O seu livro de estreia, Um Presente das Estrelas foi um sucesso esmagador, publicado em Portugal pela Quinta Essência.
