Gerald Durrell

A bestselling author with over 35 million copies sold worldwide, Gerald Durrell (1925-1995) was born in India. His family returned to Europe when he was three years old and soon settled on the island of Corfu, Greece, where he lived until 1939.
The author dedicated his entire life to the study of zoology and wildlife, and his books are greatly inspired by his experience. A major driving force and promoter of nature conservation initiatives, he was one of the first people to warn of the dangers of industrial and technological development and its impact on the environment.
