Francisco Umbral

Francisco Umbral nasceu em Madrid, em 1935, mas passou a infância e juventude na província em Valladolid. Foi escritor e jornalista. Das suas obras destacam-se Mortal y Rosa, Las Ninfas, galardoada com o Prémio Nadal, El Carnívoro Cuchillo, Trilogía de Madrid, La Leyenda del César Visionário e El Hijo de Greta Garbo. Recebeu, entre outros, o Prémio Mariano Cavia de Jornalismo, o Prémio González Ruano de Jornalismo, o Prémio da Crítica, o Prémio Príncipe das Astúrias, o Prémio Nacional das Letras e o Prémio Cervantes. Morreu em 2007, em Madrid.
