Francis Fukuyama nasceu em 1952 em Chicago, nos Estados Unidos da América. Doutorado em Ciência Política pela Universidade de Harvard, é investigator no Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law, da Universidade de Standford.
Escreveu o célebre O Fim da História e o Último Homem, onde defende que a generalização a nível planetário da democracia liberal pode indicar que se atingiu o último patamar da evolução sociocultural da humanidade, e que se encontrou o derradeiro regime político.
