Fernando J. Múñez (Madrid, 1972) descobriu o encanto pela escrita ainda criança. Com 14 anos iniciou o seu primeiro romance e, aos 18, desenvolveu os primeiros guiões de cinema. Depois de se licenciar em Filosofia, iniciou a sua carreira como realizador de publicidade, acumulando os anúncios com curtas-metragens, e completando a formação académica em Cinematografia nos Estados Unidos. Em 2012 realizou Las nornas, exibido no Festival de Cinema de Alicante e na Seminci (Semana Internacional de Cinema) de Valladolid.
A Cozinheira de Castamar foi o seu primeiro romance, adaptado à televisão e em exibição na Netflix.
