Étienne Gilson
Étienne Gilson (1884-1978) was a French philosopher and educator. He taught History of Medieval Philosophy in Sorbonne, took the chair of medieval philosophy in Collège de France, and in 1929 he helped found the Pontifical Institute for Medieval Studies in Toronto, Canada. Although initially a historian of philosophy, Gilson was also one of the leaders of the neo-Thomist movement in the Catholic Church. Doctor honoris causa He taught at universities around the world and authored many books.
