Erika Fischer-Lichte é uma das teóricas contemporâneas mais conceituadas na área dos estudos de teatro e artes performativas. Professora na Freie Universität de Berlim, dirige na mesma universidade o Centro de Investigação Internacional "Interweaving Performance Cultures". Autora prolífica, com mais de trinta livros publicados e vários ensaios académicos, tem vindo a refletir sobre questões ligadas à estética e à semiótica, centrando o seu trabalho nas teorias da performatividade e na história do teatro. Estética do Performativo, traduzido em várias línguas, é uma das suas obras mais conhecidas.
