Éric Vuillard, escritor e cineasta nascido em Lyon, em 1968, venceu o Prémio Ignatius J. Reilly 2010 com Conquistadors; o Prémio Franz-Hessel 2012 e o prémio Valery-Larbaud 2013 com duas das suas obras: Congo e La Bataille d'Occident; o Prémio Joseph-Kessel 2015 com Tristesse de la terre; e o Prémio Alexandre-Vialatte 2017 com 14 Juillet, também nomeado para o Prémio do Livro Inter 2017.
A Ordem do Dia, o seu livro de estreia em Portugal, foi distinguido com o Prémio Goncourt 2017. A Guerra dos Pobres é a sua obra mais recente.
