Emílio Miranda nasceu em Luanda, Angola, em 1966, é militar de profissão em situação de reforma e reside em Vila Nova da Barquinha. Tem vasta obra publicada, em diferentes géneros literários. Editou em 2009 o seu primeiro romance histórico, A Princesa do Corgo, que narra os primeiros anos da fundação de Vila Real, cidade onde tem as suas raízes, numa viagem à época medieval no tempo de D. Dinis. Em 2011 foi eleito um dos cinco autores Novos Talentos FNAC com o conto «João, o Trovador». O Segredo da Ordem de Cristo é a sua obra mais recente.
