Eleanor H. Porter
Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter (1868-1920) was an American writer who has been influencing generations with the wonderful story of Pollyanna and its magical and optimistic lesson about life.
She studied music at the New England Conservatory and excelled as a singer, but it was in writing and the art of short stories that she found her true passion.
She married John Lyman Porter in 1892 and moved to Massachusetts, where she wrote. Pollyanna, the work that immortalized her.
