Eduardo Mendoza was born in Barcelona in 1943. He is the author of a vast body of work, which began in 1975 with... The truth about the Savolta case. (which immediately won the Critics' Prize and became a "founding" work of the new Spanish literature), is today one of the leading figures in the European literary scene. His books have been repeatedly awarded prizes, both in Spain and in other countries, and have frequently been adapted for film. In 2016, he won the Cervantes Prize, the most important prize in Spanish-language literature.
