Edney Silvestre
Edney Silvestre is a Brazilian writer, journalist and playwright, born in Valença, in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Author of seven fiction books and four journalism books, he won the 2010 Jabuti Prize and the São Paulo Literature Prize for the novel If I Close My Eyes Now, whose sequel is Provisional Lives. Adapted for television, If I Close My Eyes Now resulted in one of the three best miniseries in the world, having been nominated for the 2019 International Emmy Award. He also wrote the novels Happiness is Easy, Good Night to All, The Last Day of Innocence, Unlikely Loves and the book of short stories Welcome to Copacabana. His work was also enthusiastically received in England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Serbia and Portugal. Globo's international correspondent, he covered the terrorist attacks of September 11, in addition to reporting in Iraq, Cuba, Death Valley and Central America.
