Dubravka Ugrešic

Dubravka Ugrešic was born in the former Yugoslavia, now Croatia, in 1949.
After obtaining a degree in Russian and Comparative Literature, he worked for several years at the Institute of Literary Theory in Zagreb.
In 1991, when the conflict in the Balkans broke out, her anti-war statements made her a target of nationalist hatred from journalists, politicians, and other writers.
In 1993, he left Croatia and has since taught at various universities in the US and Europe, such as Harvard and Columbia.
