Dilly Court cresceu em Londres e começou a trabalhar como argumentista para anúncios de televisão. Quando se dedicou aos romances, obteve um inesperado sucesso, e nunca mais deixou de escrever, quer sob o seu nome verdadeiro, quer sob o seu pseudónimo, Lily Baxter. Hoje em dia já tem quatro netos - dos seus dois filhos – e vive no Dorset com o marido, passando grande parte do tempo a escrever ou a fazer longas caminhadas com o seu labrador, Barley.
