Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Wroclaw, February 4, 1906 – Flossenbürg, April 9, 1945) was a theologian and philosopher, Lutheran pastor, member of the German anti-Nazi resistance, and founding member of the Confessing Church, a wing of the evangelical church opposed to Nazi policies.
Bonhoeffer became involved in the Abwehr's plot to assassinate Hitler. In March 1943 he was arrested and ended up being hanged weeks before Hitler himself committed suicide and exactly one month before the end of World War II.
