DeSales Harrison é professor associado de Poesia Moderna e Contemporânea e diretor do Programa de Escrita Criativa na Universidade de Oberlin, no Ohio. Licenciou-se na Universidade de Yale, concluiu o seu mestrado na Universidade John Hopkins e doutorou-se em Harvard. Estudou, ainda, psicanálise em Nova Iorque.
É casado com a crítica literária Laura Baudot, tem quatro filhos e passa uma parte do ano em França.
A Forma do Corvo é o seu primeiro romance.
