Denis Johnson is considered one of the new voices in American literature. An author of fiction, poet, and playwright, he has published the novels... Angels, Fiskadoro, Stars in Noon, Resuscitation of a Hanged Man, Already Dead: A California Goth and The Name of the World. Smoke Column His first work, published in Portugal, was considered one of the best books of the year by the New York Times and Time magazine in 2007. He received a Lannan Fellowship and was awarded the Whiting Writers' Prize and the Aga Khan Award for Fiction, among others.
