David Mamet

David Mamet was born in Chicago in 1947. He is a playwright, screenwriter, film director, and writer. He was one of the founders of... Atlantic Theatre Company (New York) and from Back Bay Theatre Company (Massachusetts). In 1984, he won the Pulitzer Prize for drama with the play Glengarry Glen Ross, later adapted for film. As a screenwriter, he distinguished himself in films The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Untouchables or HannibalHe published the novels. The Village, The Old Religion, Wilson and Chicago, and also the book of poetry The Hero PonyIn 2002 he joined American Theater Hall of FameIn 2010 he received the PEN Theatre Award, which distinguished him as a Master of American Theatre. The play Oleanna It premiered in the United States in 1992, and the following year it was staged in London, in a production directed by Harold Pinter. In 1994 it was adapted for film by David Mamet himself.
