David Attenborough
Sir David Attenborough, born in London in 1926, is the most famous naturalist on the planet, whose television career is now in its seventh decade. After studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge, he went to work at BBC in 1952 as a trainee producer. While participating in the series Zoo Quest (1954-64) had the first opportunity to conduct expeditions to remote areas of the globe, to capture very close-up images of wildlife in its natural habitat. He served as director of BBC2 (1965-68) and director of programming for BBC (1969-72), but left administration in 1973 to return to creating programs, having written and presented a series in thirteen episodes, Life on Earth (1979), which traced the evolutionary history of animals and plants. This was followed by many other highly successful series, such as Living Planet (1984), The Challenges of Life (1990), The Private Life of Plants (1995), Blue Planet (2001), Planet Earth (2006) and Planet Earth II (2016), and the documentary A Life on Our Planet (2020), which analyze all aspects of life on the planet. Adventures of a Young Naturalist and their testimony and vision for the future, A Life on Our Planet, were published by Temas e Debates.
