Daron Acemoglu

2024 Nobel Prize in Economics

Born in 1967, he is Professor Institute He holds a PhD in Economics from MIT and conducts research on the historical origins of prosperity, poverty, and the effects of new technologies on economic growth, employment, and inequality. He has received numerous awards and distinctions, including... John Bates Clark Medal, awarded to economists under 40 who have made a very significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge (2005); the BBVA Award for Knowledge in Economics, Finance and Management for his entire career (2016), and the Global Economics Prize of Kiel Institute (2019). He is the co-author (with James Robinson) of The Balance of Power and of bestseller Why Nations Fail (2013) both published by Temas e Debates.
