Daron Acemoglu

PRÉMIO NOBEL DA ECONOMIA 2024

Nascido em 1967, é Institute Professor de Economia no MIT e desenvolve investigação sobre as origens históricas da prosperidade, da pobreza e dos efeitos das novas tecnologias no crescimento económico, no emprego e na desigualdade. Recebeu vários prémios e distinções, entre os quais a John Bates Clark Medal, atribuída a economistas com menos de 40 anos que deram um contributo muito significativo para o pensamento e conhecimento económicos (2005); o BBVA Knowledge Award in Economics, Finance, and Management pelo conjunto da sua carreira (2016), e o Global Economy Prize do Kiel Institute (2019). É coautor (com James Robinson) de O Equilíbrio do Poder e do best-seller Porque Falham as Nações (2013) ambos publicados pela Temas e Debates.
