Christopher Andrew é professor emérito de História Moderna e Contemporânea e antigo presidente da Faculdade de História da Universidade de Cambridge. Fundador do reputado Cambridge Intelligence Seminar, é também presidente do British Intelligence Study Group e fundador e coeditor da revista Intelligence and National Security.

É historiador interno do MI5, tendo escrito o best-seller internacional The Defence of the Realm: The Authorized History of MI5. Da sua vasta obra destacam-se os dois volumes de O Arquivo Mitrokhin e estudos inovadores sobre o uso e abuso dos serviços secretos na história moderna.
